The cost of living in Paris can be high especially for students. But Paris is also a city of culture, parties, and fashion.

So here’s how to reduce the cost of living in Paris and to enjoy everything the capital has offers even on a student budget!

1. Groupon

I used to use it A LOT when I was a student. Restaurants, activities, shopping… There’s loads of services and products with huge discounts. A massage for €30, a spa for €15 or 10 dancing classes for €20…

The process? You pay by credit card on the website and receive a confirmation email. If it’s a voucher for a service, you print it. If it’s a product, it will be delivered to your door. With these websites your cost of living in Paris will drastically reduce.

If you want to buy a service, call the branch before to make sure they have availability that suits you. Sometimes, there is a calendar that shows the availability on the website.

According to the French law, you can cancel the deal until 14 days after its purchase.

2. La Fourchette

Food is amazing in Paris…the best in the world! La Fourchette is a specialized website to save money on restaurants.

Be sure to read all the terms and conditions regarding the discount before making a reservation (eg: not including drinks, only if you order a starter + main course or dessert + main course).

3. Heetch

With Heetch, reduce your cost of living in Paris on your night out. Cheaper than a cab, this application puts you in touch with individual drivers. Available only during the night, from 8pm to 6am, a driver comes to pick you up at an address and drive you to your destination. You pay by credit card through the app (enter your credit card number just once at the first use) or by cash. Before you pay, you are informed about the price and the waiting time.

Get €5 free on your first travel with the promo code : PERLE185614

4. Uber

Cheaper than a cab but more expensive than Heetch, this app works 24/7 and the driver is not an individual but a licensed professional. You only can pay by credit card through the app (you enter your credit card number just once at the first use). Before you pay, you are informed about the price and the waiting time.

The cheapest option is the option UberPool but, like Heetch, it works only the night from 8pm to 6am and the number of people is limited to 2. The driver has the right to stop to pick up other people.

If you are between 4 and 7 people you can order a UberVan. Don’t hesitate to share the price of the trip with other friends who also have the Uber app, through an option available on screen.

5. Vente Privée/Bazar Chic/Showroomprivé : buy online

These are my favourite applications/websites offering big discounts up to 70% off high quality brands. Save money on EVERYTHING (food, hygiene product, electronic product, clothes…).

Specialized in clothes, but they also offer a lot of more. Dress like a parisian at an affordable price and reduce your cost of living in Paris !

Moreover, my friend has created The Cut with nice prices if you want a hairdresser to come to your place to do brushing, styling, cut or color. You can plan a day between friends as well and ask for several hairdressers to come for you. Benefit from 5% thanks to the Feel Parisien code. Write your phone number and email address on the home page below “Je réserve”, she will call you back and she speaks English.

This is the new tendency in Paris ! Be beautiful and well dressed without moving from your cozy little flat.

6. Vestiaire Collective

Only for clothes and accessories, Vestiaire Collective puts you in touch with individuals who sell items from famous brands.

7. Orange Cineday

Another way to reduce your cost of living in Paris is on your movie’s tickets. The French mobile phone operator “Orange”. Buy one ticket and get one for free every Tuesday.

How it works ? If you have this operator, send a text message with the word « cine » to the number 20 000. You will receive the code to give to the desk at the cinema to get your discount.

What to know

If you don’t have Orange, ask a friend who’s not using  to give you his promo code (valuable only once each Tuesday). The offer can also be combined with the reduced prices for students.

There is a website dedicated to all the students at an international level. ISIC card proof your student status worldwide, help you to enjoy over 45 000 ISIC dicounts int the whole world and join a community of 5 millions students.

How it works ? If you have this card, you can wonder around the website and see all the student discount you are entitled to.
